Solivagant

Digital photography (2020 - )

Meaning “wandering alone”, Solivagant is an ongoing photography project centered around a particular hiking trail in Saguenay, le Sentier du Manoir. The minuscule trail, with a total length of 0,5 km, bares an astonishing variety of micro-landscapes; a shallow river crosses the grassy fields, stopped halfway by an active beaver dam, and flanked by two rows of tall transmission towers. The rich selection of plants (and that one special tree) changing through the seasons make every hike feel special, like discovering a new place, even though it is so familiar.

The goal of the project is to explore a confined space and highlight how it changes through time and under different weather and time of the day. The series of photographs becomes a witness of that same place, captured over and over again in a compulsive manner.
